Joe Auckland graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 2001 and has since been leading a varied and interesting musical career. He played with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra for 5 years and became a featured soloist with them touring nationally and abroad. As well as still playing predominantly Jazz and being a regular at many of London's top venues including the 606, Ronnie Scott's and the Jazz Cafe he has also become in demand on the world and pop music scenes. Recent years have seen Joe tour America and Europe with ska legends Madness, perform frequently with the James Taylor Quartet as well as appearing with Lemar and Gwyneth Herbert.
 

 


Another ex-student of the Guildhall, Carlos Lopez-Real has been working with BackBeat Village since August 2004. He has performed and recorded with a vast selection of artists, including John Mayer’s Indo-Jazz Fusions, Graham Wiggins aka “Dr. Didg,” Justin Quinn’s ‘Bakehouse,’ Tony Bianco, Loz Speyer’s “Timezone,” Niall Carter, the Pasadena Roof Orchestra, the London Jazz Orchestra and many more. “Carlos plays with a sound that comes from his soul” (Dave Liebman, sax player with Miles Davis in the 70’s.)


Robbie Robson moved to London in 2000 to join the post-graduate jazz course at the Guildhall, having previously been studying on the jazz course at the Leeds College of Music since 1996. He has worked with a host of the country's finest jazz musicians, including Clark Tracey, Nikki Iles, Bobby Wellins, Dave O' Higgins, Stan Sulzman, Tim Garland, Gareth Williams and Gerard Presencer, as well as working with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra for many years. He has been running his own quartet for a few years which has appeared at many of London's most famous jazz-venues (including the Bull's Head, The Vortex and the 606 Club) and he has been working with BackBeat Village since its earliest days in 2002.

Original BackBeat Village saxophonist Jonny Spall completed the 4 year jazz course at the Guildhall in 2004. Originally from Cheshire, Jonny has appeared in several London shows as well as recording at the BBC Pebble Mill Studios in Birmingham. He has also performed with the Millennium Jazz Orchestra, the Guildhall Jazz band, the London Jazz Orchestra and various London dance companies. He is a member of the fantastic Heritage Orchestra and 'Nostalgia 77' and he also runs his own superb trad-jazz band, the 'Silk Street Hot Seven.' Jonny has gigged at many of the UK's top venues including the Bridgewater Hall, Barbican Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Purcell Room, Vortex, Ronnie Scott's and Smollenski's on the Strand.


Trombonist
Trevor Mires has a credit list that includes George Benson, Spiritualized, The White Stripes, Charlotte Church, Michael Buble and Carleen Anderson (to name the first 6 on the list of about 150!) as well as most of the bigbands in the UK and an extensive list of British and International jazz artists. He was trained at the Trinity College of Music (London) and the Berklee College of Music (Boston USA) and was awarded scholarships from both colleges. He is one of the most in-demand trombonists in the country and has been working with BackBeat Village since December 2004.
